Pre-Chlorination with Pipe Bursting

A Simple Technique Can Save Money and Time for Contractors and Public Authorities

Murphy Pipeline Contractors (MPC) recently completed a pre-chlorinated pipe bursting project in Fort Pierce, Florida, where 13,000 linear feet water main was replaced in eight weeks. Fort Pierce Utilities Authorities had been looking to replace their 65-year-old water main from cast iron pipes to HDPE pipelines. Open-cutting in the road was not an option due to the heavy traffic in Fort Pierce.

After consultation with MPC, Fort Pierce Utilities Authorities saw the value of pre-chlorinated pipe bursting for their projects. Less disruption, ease of installation, and the cost were a few of many reasons why they chose Murphy Pipeline Contractors.

"It's a shame that more water companies and contractors are not familiar with the pre-chlorinated pipe-bursting method," says Andy Mayer, president of Murphy Pipeline Contractors, Inc. (MPC), based in Jacksonville, Florida. "It's a real timesaver for the contractor, and it saves the water company money. too." - Civil Infrastructure
