Dinosaur Capital of the World uses Pipe Bursting to replace Water Main

Located in the heart of the Badlands, Drumheller, AB, a town with approximately 8,200 people and counting, pipeline time bomb as management of the cast iron water mains installed during their high growth period were deteriorating.

Drumheller was in the middle of a 5-year pipeline replacement project when they selected an innovator trenchless replacement method known as pipe bursting. Murphy Pipeline Contractors was called to assist the feasibility of the 5-7 burst projects and worked with MPE Engineering Ltd.

Murphy Pipeline Contractors developed a burst program that involved replacing a block of water main. After consultation and preparation, 12-meter sections of HDPE were fused with burst distances of 100 to 200 meters.
